If ever people needed a tack hammer to the head when it comes to the price of a watch, this is it. Seriously, the same folks behind the GameStop run-up must be behind the stainless steel case copy Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy. Now, I am not one of those haters who jump on Omega Forums to decry the latest Speedmaster LE. I find them fun, people enjoy them, and there’s a relative harmlessness to all the camaraderie that comes with owning a Speedy.
A price of 40 grand on the secondary market, though, has me thinking about pigs and hogs. You may recall that I truly enjoyed using one of these popular modern watches as a punching bag during the Speedmaster World Cup. Honestly, if this thing were made of precious metal, it would start to make more sense. If it had an upgraded movement, maybe I’d start to understand. As it stands, though, this silver dial Omega replica watch “limited” edition of 1,970 pieces just feels off and that’s before I start making cartoon jokes.
Or you could buy: Honestly, with 40 grand you could buy a lot — including a pretty sweet late model 911. If you want to stay in watches, just buy the newest burgundy bezel copy Omega Speedmaster 3861 Moonwatch. Heck, you can buy both the Hesalite and the sapphire sandwich version and still have loads of cash. Buy a different Porsche and use that Speedy to time yourself on Starbucks runs each and every morning! Actually, what I would do (and I did) is to buy the 50th Anniversary Speedmaster in Moonshine gold. When and if it all comes tumbling down, you’re left with a gorgeous watch that’s made of something with tangible value. Here’s the crazy thing: in today’s market, you’d still have enough left over to buy a new steel Moonwatch.
Released just hours after Nick Jonas’ fourth solo album dropped, the music video for Spaceman shows The Voice coach wandering through a barren terrain on another planet as he tries to figure out how to get home to his wife, Priyanka Chopra who appears in hologram form.
The only downside of the new era of perfect fake Speedmaster is the new era of pricing. When considering your first luxury watch, the Speedmaster has long been a safe suggestion. It’s iconic, historic and, previously, very well-priced considering its prestige and performance capabilities. The 1861 models initially were lower in price, and over time crept up to meet the current standing of the marketplace.
The 2021 Swiss made replica Omega Speedmaster 3861 models are effectively a thousand dollars more expensive (at least in USD) than the previous models, which is leading some to cry foul. If I am being honest though, I think the increase is quite fair, all considering. These new co-axial powered models are effectively the middle ground between the previous generation and the revived 321 model. At this time, it would seem the 3861 powered models are replacing the 1861/3 models that came before them – but at the time of writing the sapphire sandwich 1861 Speedmasters are still available for purchase through Omega’s official channels while supplies last, and there will be no shortage of availability on the pre-owned market.
When I make my case for the price increase, I explain that the superior movement technology, bracelet, and subtle aesthetic changes to the dial and case go a long way to justifying the cost. Plus, considering the mass availability of these watches, I don’t see how this hike affects buyers who want 1861-powered Speedies – they’ll still be pretty easy to track down. Considering a Rolex Daytona is twice the price of the new Speedmaster, and chronographs from Breitling, Zenith, and others hover around this price point as well, it was fairly inevitable the price would eventually rise.
To sum it all up, the new watch definitely caters to the tastes and preferences of the brand’s most devoted followers and I applaud AAA quality fake Omega for making the external incremental changes we all wanted to see while also including the latest movement technology – previously only found in a much more expensive Apollo XI Moonshine watch that was a limited edition. Like the Grand Seiko dual impulse 9SA5 making its debut in steel in the SLGH003, I believe this is a real win for most buyers.
It sold out within just a few moments on that first morning of Baselworld 2015. Of the Fratelli, only RJ managed to get a hold of one, and no, it is not a safe queen nor being babied. That watch is for wearing and has even been signed by an Apollo astronaut. First of all, I am very happy that the finals consist of these two watches. They are well-deserved spots, although, from a personal standpoint, I wouldn’t have minded seeing the Speedy Tuesday “Tribute to Alaska III” or the Speedy Tuesday “Ultraman” in the finals. Anyway, it is the Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award that was introduced in 2015. I am not surprised it is the Speedmaster ending up in the finals of this Speedmaster World Cup.
Let’s not talk about the connection between Snoopy and NASA again. If you’re unfamiliar with that, click here to catch up. I am getting a little bit tired of people who complain about this beagle on the dial of a Speedmaster. They’re either trolling or they don’t know about the history between NASA and this particular watchdog. Anyway, so far these complainers have been in the minority, so I am happy that common sense prevails.
Celebration of success Sure, the Speedmaster Calibre 321 “Ed White” is an amazing piece, and I am happy to own one, but it is a fairly normal Speedmaster. So far, the Calibre 321 has been even more unobtainable than the Snoopy ever was. That may sound strange, but Omega squeezed out 1,970 of these beautiful Snoopies with hand-made case backs in roughly 12 months, whereas the non-limited edition Calibre 321 is almost harder to get than a steel Daytona. Let’s all agree both Speedmasters here are nicer than any Daytona though. While the €14,000 Speedmaster Calibre 321 is a beautiful re-creation of an existing reference from the past, the fake Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award is a watch created from an almost blank canvas. To celebrate the success of the safe return of Apollo 13 and the prestigious NASA award Omega received for its role during that mission, Omega designed an amazing tribute!
I feel lucky that I’ve met with the designer of the black bezel fake Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award and I love the exquisite details she has put into this watch. Although the dog and text are a bit gimmicky on the dial, it is good fun and a sign you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously. Serious business is the case back though, amazing craftsmanship demonstrated with a sterling silver replica of the Snoopy lapel pin on a starry sky. This dark blue sky has been created from enamel with silver powder used for the stars.
What’s not to like here? Sure, you “need” a regular Moonwatch as well. A Speedmaster Professional with Hesalite crystal or even the new Speedmaster Calibre 321 “Ed White” will fit any collection and especially for that regular Speedmaster, there’s no excuse not to buy one. But this white dialed Snoopy, is a tribute version to the best chronograph ever made in combination with its successful role during Apollo 13. What’s not to like here? This steel case replica Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award has also been the starting point for many to become interested in collecting Speedmasters and its limited editions. For me, it has been good fun ever since and I am more than proud of my modest collection of Moonwatch models. This Silver Snoopy Award takes an important spot in my collection, not in the least place because it is so different from those black dialed Moonwatch variations. I know about the high resale value of this watch, but that shouldn’t play a role in choosing this watch as a winner of the Speedmaster World Cup. It is about the design, the background story of this Swiss replica watch, and its importance for the brand and Speedmaster collection in general.
The best replica Omega Speedmaster is one of the most celebrated watches of the last half-century, in part because of the countless different versions the brand has released. But in a world where a limited-edition Speedmaster isn’t a new thing anymore, is the watch community still interested in another new release? This watch has put it beyond any doubt. Absolutely, yes, they are. People can’t get enough of the latest Snoopy Speedy, with waitlists stretching around the figurative block as people line up to strap one to their wrist. But what makes the latest replica Omega Speedmaster ‘Silver Snoopy Award’ 50th Anniversary so exciting? Let’s take a closer look.
Most people will know the Swiss made fake Omega Speedmaster was worn by NASA astronauts during the space race in the late 1960s, and even worn on the moon itself. This lunar heritage kickstarted the Speedmaster stampede with thousands of collectors around the world. What is less well known is how the watch saved the lives of astronauts during the near disastrous Apollo 13 mission in 1970. After an oxygen tank exploded, crippling the Service Module, John L. “Jack” Swigert relied upon the Speedmaster’s chronograph function to time a critical 14-second rocket burn that enabled him to correct the spacecraft’s course and return home safely.
For this, AAA cheap fake Omega was given the Silver Snoopy Award (an award that was usually only given to NASA staff) to recognise the contribution the Speedmaster watches worn by the astronauts made to the safe return of everyone on board.
The Silver Snoopy Award subsequently came to symbolise the relationship between Omega and NASA, with the brand releasing the Speedmaster Professional Snoopy in 2003. This limited edition of 5441 pieces was followed in 2015 by the release of the Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award that was limited to an even leaner 1970 pieces. Both of these limited-edition watches featured the Snoopy icon in the 9 o’clock sub-dial, and have proven extremely popular, with the prices for pre-owned pieces growing steadily in the years after their release. That the new Omega Speedmaster ‘Silver Snoopy Award’ 50th Anniversary is not a limited edition has immediately sparked considerable excitement. Now, let’s get into the watch itself.
The dial of the watch is made from galvanised silver and configured in a typical “panda” format with deep blue sub-dials. The blue of the sub-dials nicely matches the ceramic bezel that frames the dial, which features the tachymeter scale you’d expect on a Speedy of any type.
In the 9 o’clock sub-dial, where the running seconds sit, you’ll find the Snoopy icon with the text “50th Anniversary” as a cartoon reminder of why the Speedmaster is so special. It isn’t till you flip the watch over that you see why this particular Speedmaster is so significant.
Based on the standard-issue Speedmaster Professional, the 42mm stainless steel case is ever so slightly asymmetrical. This is due to the case being a touch wider on its right side, in order to offer the crown and chronograph pushers some protection by being mildly recessed into the case. The famous twisted lugs are present, with a sharp blend of polished and brushed surfaces that highlight the sweeping case lines. The case thickness is kept reasonable at 14.5mm, but considering the view you get when you turn the watch over, it’s more than acceptable.
On the caseback of the watch is a scene of the moon that has been specially produced to appear 3D, with the earth in the background, set against the expanse of the universe. The first thing you’ll notice is that the earth rotates once every 60 seconds as it’s connected to the running seconds sub-dial on the dial side. But the real magic happens when you activate the chronograph. After those 14 fateful seconds elapse, Snoopy appears in his own lunar module to take a trip over the surface of the moon. The cartoon character is suspended by a very thin transparent hand that is connected to the chronograph mechanism in an ingenious way of bringing Snoopy to life.
Now, there has been some criticism (likely by folks who weren’t fans of the Speedmaster to begin with) that this mechanical animation is a bit gimmicky. I couldn’t disagree more. There is something fantastically whimsical, pure and lighthearted that you feel when you see Snoopy making his way across the backdrop of space, and Omega should be applauded for their creativity in this complication.
You can show this watch to a child or a friend with no interest in mechanical watches and both will be equally impressed by the micro-mechanical marvel that is moving before their eyes. They don’t need to know anything about watchmaking, because Snoopy speaks to something more universal than the narrow world of horology. Snoopy reminds us of the fascination that we all felt as children when we learned about mankind going to the moon. That special feeling is a hard one to coax out of technically focused or serious-minded watch enthusiasts.
Beneath the dial of the Omega Speedmaster ‘Silver Snoopy Award’ 50th Anniversary is the in-house, hand-winding Omega caliber 3861 that is supplemented with the mechanical animation. This caliber is a Master Chronometer certified movement, guaranteeing an accuracy of between 0 and +5 seconds per day. It features anti-magnetic capabilities up to 15,000-gauss and, despite the energy-draining caseback complication, still offers a respectable 50 hours of power reserve.
The strap is a navy blue nylon textile that is a similar colour to both the bezel and sub-dials. It is also secured with a pin buckle, that removes some of the bulk that comes with a folding clasp. The strap also hides another treat – embossed on the rear of the strap is the flight path of the Apollo 13 voyage that the Speedmaster famously travelled on, including the point where the crew used their watches to correct their course. This watch sure is all about the details!
Without a doubt, this is one of the most surprising and delightful watches of the year. Did we need another special edition Omega Speedmaster? Well, in this case, yes, because it offers something genuinely new and exciting. This isn’t a mere dial or bezel colour change. It’s a mechanical animation that brings to life a character that is very close to many of our hearts and tells a vital part of the Omega story. The fact that it is not a limited edition is the cherry on top that enables more collectors and enthusiasts around the world to be able to carry a small part of the Omega and NASA history on their wrist.
The comments and feedback on the new perfect replica Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award have been pretty amazing. As such, it’s time for us to talk you through all Speedmaster Snoopy watches that have been out there since 2003.
After seeing the new Swiss made fake Speedmaster Snoopy in the flesh, it immediately became my favorite of the three. Based on the comments on our previous articles and on social media, the enthusiasts love this new Speedmaster Snoopy. But, it also seemed that many still prefer the Silver Snoopy Award edition from 2015. I own the 2003 and 2015 Speedmaster Snoopy watches, and I have ordered the new one as well. Having them all three in front of me (the new Speedmaster Snoopy 50th anniversary being a prototype for review), my pick is the latest.
Another very commonly asked question is about the color. “How blue is that blue?” and how does it compare to the blue CK2998 edition from a few years ago? Although we don’t have a blue CK2998 in our possession, we did put the Snoopy side-by-side to a CK2998 (from a collector and friend of the show). It seems the blue of the Omega Speedmaster Snoopy 50th anniversary is a bit of a lighter blue.
And also, the blue of the quality replica Omega Speedmaster Snoopy watch responds more to light circumstances. It can look very light blue at times, and almost turn to black as well.
Luxury sports fake watches have seemed to undergo a revival in recent years, with the introduction of numerous interpretations from multiple watch manufacturers. The Omega watches from the 1970s and 1980s were rather interesting. They are typically stylish in design, with extensive use of colours and different case shapes to make itself stand out. The Speedmaster Mark II, which was originally launched in 1969, is certainly one of our favourite Swiss movemeng replica Omega timepieces from that era.
In Baselworld 2014, Omega had decided to launch an updated version of the steel case replica Omega Speedmaster Mark II. The 2014 variant still remains true to its roots. The watch retains its distinctive case shape, together with its dial design and the bracelet of the watch. However, the new variant features several updates as well. This includes the new Co-Axial Calibre 3330 self-winding movement, which features a Si14 silicon balance spring, a column-wheel chronograph mechanism, and a date display. In addition, the tachymeter scale glows in the dark as well, which adds a nice touch to the chronograph.
The cheap Omega Mark II copy watch is available in three different variants at the moment, although we have a slight preference for the model with the orange accents (the one that we have pictured above). Priced at S$8,250, we reckon the new Mark II offers collectors the best of both worlds – combining the latest mechanical bits into a vintage-looking timepiece from the yesteryears. It is also an interesting and slightly uncommon option for collectors who find the regular Speedmasters a little passé.
The best fake Omega Speedmaster 3188.8.131.52.04.001 is an automatic watch with a white and black dial with a date window at the 4:30 position. This chronograph features a small seconds counter, 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder with a central chronograph hand.
The bezel, with its tachymetric scale, is mounted on a 40mm stainless steel case and presented on a stainless steel bracelet. Being a modern Omega Speedmaster replica watch with stainless steel case , it has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and ticking inside is Omega’s chronometer certified caliber 3304 (based on the Valjoux 7753). Believe it or not, it’s also 100 metres water resistant, which allowed me to actually take it into the ocean once or twice (being cognisant enough to not push down the pushers of the chronograph while wet).
What drew me to the watch was its striking panda dial, which has been popularised as a result of one of the most famous wristwatches of all time — the Paul Newman Rolex Daytona. Around the time the watch was announced to be auctioned, I knew two things: first, I loved the look; second, there was no way anytime soon I would be able to afford a Paul Newman Daytona. Especially Paul Newman’s actual Daytona, which would later sell for more than $17 million. I decided this would make a great compromise and decided to purchase the Omega replica watch with panda dial and, separately, a black bund strap to complete the pseudo Newman look. It didn’t hurt that it was an Omega watch, a brand revered for the build of its watches.
This year is very important for Speedmaster as it is the 50th anniversary of human’s successful landing on the moon. Absolutely, Omega will launch the special editions to celebrate the important moment. Today we will have a look at two perfect Omega Speedmaster imitation watches which are recognizable and eye-catching.
The first one is the precious Omega replica watch with burgundy bezel. The timepiece features the Moonshine gold case and bracelet which is especially designed for the special edition. It has perfectly reproduced the appearance of the original model. Furthermore, the movement that drives the timepiece is the Cal.3861 which is improved on basis of Cal.1861.
The second one is 42 mm knockoff watch. The pattern at 9 o’clock position will leave deep impression on all the watch lovers especially men who are interested in the legendary story of moon landing. It perfectly presents the image when Buzz Aldrin boarded on the moon. It is also equipped with Cal.3861.
